Discussion Starter #1 The, 'door open' light on the dashboard is always on even thought he door is closed I first noticed it because the dome light wouldn't go off now matter what position the switch was in (except off) This used to happen years ago but very intermittingly and hasn't happened for years If the dome light stays on all the time, even with all doors closed, check the position of the switch on the dome light It should be in the position facing the rear of the car, the "door" position (as opposed to the "on" or "off" positions If the dome light stays on with its switch in the "door" position, one of the door switches is defective The standard fix for the Ranger is to spray silicone spray in that opening in the edge of the door the opening that has the cylinder inside of the opening Then open and close the door a few times, slamming it slightly If the door open light on the dash stays on, repeat the spraying and door closing process So try that first
Open 1 door at a time and find the door light switch in the door frame (it may be under a rubber boot which you can leave on It is spring loaded so you can push it in and it will come out by itself when you release it) and manually operate and release it a few times to see if you can make the light go on and off Do this for all doors However, if you don't shut off the handle precisely, the light will get stuck on So when your ABS light won't go off, be sure to check whether your emergency brake is in the correct down position or not Adjust it a few times and see if the ABS light turns off Being immediate observant after repairing your ABS system is crucial If you haven't got access to the equipment, try spraying the door latches with a rust penetrator (mp40), as per the video and after opening and closing the door a few times see if it frees up the switch Do one door at a time and see if the problem is gone, by checking the state of your dashboard door open light with the doors closed
The common reasons for this to happen are the lights are on and the door is ajar, you may have a defective door ajar/open switch that is signaling the system to set off the buzzer You must have the system control computer scanned to test these switches "open door" light wont turn off Jump to Latest Follow 1 8 of 8 Posts G Guest Discussion Starter #1 you could either put something in the boot or on the door to push the switch that extra bit to make the light go off the light will come on when any door is opened, but probably only one switch has a problem! This light remains on until all the side doors, back door and back window are completely closed To reset the open door warning light on a Toyota FJ Cruiser you must stop the car and close all doors If the warning light don't stop it means that at one door sensor is broken Before starting check the doors and trunk are closed properly and no seatbelt is caught in doors
When the door is open, the button is allowed to spring out inside the switch, completing the circuit Sometimes the switches get a bit rusty on the backside, allowing the switch to complete the circuit when it shouldn't Remove each switch by removing the 10MM bolt and pull the switch just slightly out from the door area No need to disconnect the wiring It can easily fall Yes, I open each door individually and the dome light turns on everytime I let it sit for a moment, then the light turns off I even tried this manually by pushing the switch in and the dome light turns on/off when it's suppose to, but the Door Open Indicator Light still stays lit Turned off, took out key, restarted, and no indicator Started again after about a week with no problems Now, the interior lights won't go off at all even though the door is closed Still get the control panel warning that the left passenger door is ajar If it is something I can easily do, I'm all for removing panel to access wiring/switches
I don't know if the rear hatch has a door pin that lights up the dooropen light, but if so I'd check that one first It's possible the pin has got knocked or loose Otherwise perhaps the wire on one of the door pins has fallen off and is shorting to the car body Take each door switch out and check to see the wire's still connected My door ajar light is stuck on in my 00 Subaru Forester, whether the car is on or not I had to replace the battery as it ran down the old one Sometimes it goes off for a week or more at a stretch, but it always comes back on As of now it has been on continuously for about 8 months I have tried everything minus taking the door panels offDoor ajar light wont go off 2CARPROSARCHIVES the door and commonly gets stuck all you gotta do is spray wd40 or some sort of lube on the latch mecanism that holds door closed and open close a few times and it will fix it if not you got more of an issue but thay stick alot on the ranger and lot of people use this easy fix and have no prob
this am got in my 05 crew cab and door warning came on,opened and closed all still on,,fuse is good,,doors tight,, never hit,,on top of that my driver door lock keeps opening, will stay locked manually once rolling,,any help,,, Re The open door warning light indicator does not go off There is a problem with the door switch the door is not pushing the switch in completely Here is what you do close all the doors, then you open them one at a time with all the other still closed start with the drivers door open and look for the pin with that the door touches when you close its on the bottom If it does make the light go out, you can either leave it as that, if you don't mind not having a boot light, or if you look where the boot latch bar is, just inside the boot, above the bumper, on the trim panel you'll see a smal rectangle panel Pop this out and it will give you access you the latch bar

Latched but not secure The dome light indeed stays on if the door is open far enough, but I have had it closed enough that the light was not on, but the door was not secure The wind noise seems the best detector, confirmed by toggleing the windowup switch realllly dont want to replace the latch and harness my door ajar light is stuck on even tho the latch and everything is closed, if i take the door panel off and pull on the wires it will go off but i dont see anywhere where it could shorting out or I've noticed that even with the internal lights switched off from the front control the passenger doors have lights on them that still operate when the door is open, and even the boot door activates the door warning light on the dash Seems a bit odd that a 4wd would allow you to kill the batter just by leaving a door open
Finding the source of a warning light problem can be frustrating But our members can save you time, money, and aggravation When it comes to any vehicle, there's arguably nothing more annoying than a problem light that won't go away, whether that be a check engine, traction control, or door ajar light Twice in the past week the door ajar light on the dash stays lit along with interior lights failing to go off even though all doors are shut I think it has something to do with the rear liftgate It took ~30 minutes after I shut down the truckProblem added (6 years ago) Chicka 1 points Skoda Fabia

Door Ajar light wont go off!!! The door open indicator light gets its information from individual little switches encased in rubber where the doors close They are pressed when the doors are closed and the door open light goes off The interior lights also go off if they are switched to the "Door" positionThe interior lights had to be turned to "off" so they arent on while i'm driving, and the factory alarm wont arm or beep, since it thinks i left a door open I've checked all the doors, and buttons to make sure they function properly The hatch isnt the problem, since the light in the cargo

Another thing to try is with the door open and do this with each door close the jaws all the way like it does when you close the door and see if the light goes out If it does then that means when your closeing the door on the pin the door is not closeing all the way and you need to move the pin towards you just a little ok
